The M&GN Society has a varied and interesting set of corridor bogie coaches dating between 1907 and 1945. These vehicles represent the golden age of rail travel of the Edwardian era, up to the late 1930s. The majority of these vehicles were finished in varnished teak and the intention is to restore them back to original condition. The LNER used pioneering Art-Deco interiors which still look modern by today's standards.
Many of our vehicles survived scrapping because they were used in departmental service during the post-war British Railways period. After they became life expired in the late 1970s, many were purchased by newly formed preservation societys, such as the M&GN Society.
This is the oldest vehicle in the Mainline set and is the jewel in the crown of the Joint Heritage Coach Fund. It was built in 1907 for the Norfolk Coast Express, which ran from London Liverpool Street to Sheringham.

This brake vehicle will be rebuilt into a replica Pathe Cinema car - some original cinema seats have already been sourced.

Although built as a Third Open, it's interior was stripped whilst in departmental service. The vehicle will be rebuilt as a First Open, as per the examples used in the 1937 'East Anglian' express.
The RB was the first coach to be restored from the Mainline set during the 1980s. It is currently in service in BR Crimson & Cream livery and will be restored back into varnished teak with the return of the other coaches in the set.

Another coach stripped during departmental service. It has been cosmetically restored is used as an educational coach for children at Sheringham. It will be restored to original condition.
