Volunteers gathered at Weybourne shed on Sunday 14th July to carry out works on Class 31 D5631.
As part of an ongoing investment in our Brush Type Two, which was delivered new to Norwich shed in 1960 and used to work round the world goods trains on the former M&GN lines, a new set of batteries costing several thousand pounds have been purchased.
The investment in the locomotive, which has already included the purchasing of £10,000 worth of spares is part of a wider and longer term plan to gradually increase the reliability and standard of the locomotive. The eventual aim is for D5631 to be mainline registered and restored to as-built condition.
To help make this possible, please consider supporting D5631 by joining The Loco Club.

Following her return to steam in February 2012, the M&GN Joint Railway Society is pleased to announce an additional Society Members' day in the calendar to celebrate Wissington's volunteer led rebuild.
Wissington is currently based on the
Mid-Suffolk Light Railway, and we are grateful to the MSLR for opening up their railway to Society members to enjoy Wissington for the day on Saturday 14th September. The official launch is scheduled to take place at 1230. Please bring your membership card to entitle you to free travel on the MSLR on the day.
As Brockford is not easily accessible by public transport, the Society has put on a minibus service between Stowmarket Railway Station and Brockford. A minibus will leave Stowmarket Railway Station at 1030 and 1115, and will leave Brockford at 1400, 1445 and 1530 on the return. The MSLR is two minutes from the A140 and can be found at the following address:
Brockford Station Wetheringsett, Stowmarket, Suffolk. IP14 5PW.
