Wissington Hydraulic Test

6th June 2010

The overhaul of Wissington has reached another milestone with the a successful hydraulic test of her boiler. A hydraulic test involves pumping water into the boiler at high pressure to check for any leaks and imperfections in the boiler without having to raise steam. Boiler inspector Les Rhodes witnessed the boiler hold successfully hold a pressure of 240 psi for a period of 30 minutes and then conducted the assessment.

Society representative John Howard was in attendance and whilst a few minor weeps were noted, these were not deemed to be of any concern by those present. This now means the boiler can be steam tested before it is secured in the frames of the loco.
