Quad-Arts Launched

15th July 2008

Gresley Quad-Art set No.74 was officially launched at Holt station on the 20th June, with guests including supporters of the restoration and the press. The Quads then ran in passenger service for the weekend of the 12th & 13th July.

Quad-Arts Tested

23rd April 2008

Both portions of the unique Quad-Articulated set No.74 have been reunited for the first time in five years. The two sets of two coaches were connected up and adjusted to ensure all brakes and springs were correctly calibrated and that the set was level. After the last service train the Quad-Arts made a full round trip of the line on a test run, behind Class 25 25057/D5207.

Bridge Road Carriage Sheds Commissioned

1st February 2008

The new carriage sheds at Holt known as Bridge Road Carriage Sheds, have been built to provide covered storage for our historic rolling stock.

The cost of the scheme was £419,000 and was constructed with the help of a substantial grant of £308,000 from the Heritage Lottery Fund. We were awarded the grant in April 2006, construction began in October 2006 and was substantially complete by May 2007. The external works including a lineside path from Holt Station were completed in January 2008.

BRIDGE ROAD CARRIAGE
The Midland and Great Northern Joint Railway Society is the supporting charity of (and major shareholder in) the North Norfolk Railway, which operates a 5¼ mile heritage railway from Sheringham to Holt.

The Society actively works to preserve, display and operate a wide range of historical artefacts which include four steam locomotives and many unique carriages and wagons.
